Trading desk risk analysts - commodities - Houston
Base salary - $105,000 - $120,000 + exceptional bonus & additional benefits
Trading desk market risk analysts required for leading global commodity trading house
A leading energy trading firm is looking to expand its risk platform in Houston and requires senior risk profiles to help this growth. They are expanding their portfolio across all regions due to the strong performance of their P&L from trading.
One of the key teams ensuring strong performance is the risk team and thus is keen to continue recruiting strong professionals fill the open positions in this group. These positions will be senior member s of the risk team reporting into the head of trading on a daily basis. The firm is strongly committed to build up its platform in this area and need commercially aware risk managers to develop risk strategy, methodology, hedging and trading strategies surrounding oil and gas products.
The risk analysts will be sat with the traders in the front office providing an excellent opportunity to gain an insight to a trading floor environment. The firm can boast record profits from last year and needs front office staff who begin to perform and think likes the traders of the firm.
The risk analysts will have the following responsibilities in this position:
-Management of all physical and financial transactions
-Delivery of daily reports calculating MTM value and position
-Developing and implementing the risk strategies of the firm
-Working directly with the traders on the PnL of the desk
-Monitoring control limits for the portfolio across VaR, position limit and other exposures
-Identifying, calculating and reporting factors impacting portfolio value and position change
-Assisting accounting and other teams as necessary to ensure proper invoicing, trade settlement and performance forecasting
-Act as liaison with Trading, Operations, Traffic, Accounting and Compliance
The successful candidate is likely to have the following background and skill set:
-Experience in natural gas OR oil risk controls and risk reporting function
-Total understanding of natural gas OR oil markets including financial, physical, structured transactions, transportation and storage
-Candidate must have a solid understanding of options
-Position reporting and mark to market reporting including significant exposure to both physical and financial transactions
-Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a similar discipline
-Strong attention to detail
-Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
-Candidate must have strong communication skills
