Leading Global Energy House needs gas risk specialist in London, £50,000-£55,000

The role: The risk manager will look to be a significant member of the firms FO risk team that manages the Gas and Power portfolio. The benefits of this position helps to make a significant difference to the way the gas risk team measures and manages market risk, acquire in-depth exposure to risk management and trading strategies within gas and power and gain trader like view on all markets the firm is active in.
The position will involve creating and maintaining key relationships with traders, finance, the global risk team and the board of directors on improving the companies risk systems to ensure the integration of risk as a business partner and not a control function. This role requires an individual who can lead key projects in developing the risk platform of the company.
Responsibilities: -Development of quantitative risk methods and tools for senior management. Take charge of projects, lead and report key results and performance evaluations to senior management. -Valuation of complex derivatives for business. -Providing the coordination/drive for the identification of market risk issues within Finance & Derivatives, identifying possible solutions and coordinating implementation of the preferred approach with Middle Office and IT&S. -Providing the coordination/drive for the identification of market risk issues within Finance & Derivatives, identifying possible solutions and coordinating implementation of the preferred approach with ITS. -Providing the maret risk input required as part of the process through which new activities and projects considered by the Front Office are being evaluated and approved by GTEL and IST. -The running of risk models and production of market risk numbers (including MVaR); Providing explanation of why these numbers have changed, and interacting with Front-Office in understanding the trading strategies underpinning the risk that is being measured. -Set risk limits and exposures to senior traders. -Development of risk strategy.
Ideal Profile: -Excellent market risk background (Commodities; gas and power). -Strong VBA/ Excel and MS ACCESS skills. -Experience of VaR models and Stress Tests. -Strong understanding of market fundamentals, trends and structures in the markets they monitor. -Strong report writing and oral communication skills. -Strong team player who can effectively manage and work with key risk specialists. -Cultural Flexibility and capacity to engage with different people. -Be proactive in risk/trade management rather than reactionary. -Versatility: Can work with trading, structuring, quants, finance and senior management. -Strong financed based educational background- MSc or equivalent degree preferred.
